B team kept us on our toes with another 3 set match. Kimsie DeNunzio had great control at the net & Lily Morgan took initiative on the court, not letting the ball drop. Unfortunately, this ended in a loss, but they had a positive attitude the whole time!
C team walked away from Newton with their first win of the season in a 3 set match! All of the girls worked together to not give up & Isabel Gehrig had a great streak with serving. Congrats girls!

Hats off, Bravo, and thank you to our Performing Arts students and their teachers. They provided an outstanding assembly for our incoming sixth-grade students. They demonstrated great skill, enthusiasm, and positive Puma behavior. Nice job!

The 7th grade girls volleyball teams took on the Newton Knights yesterday at Powell. The A team won their match in three games, securing their first win of the season! Maddie Pepe (pep-aye) was the overall player of the game with quick and reactive plays, great court awareness and some great serves. Josie Winger and Scarlet Segura were the top servers of the match, each with an ace on the other team. Way to go A team for your first win- your communication and movement on the court really paid off.

B and C team both suffered losses in two matches. While both teams had their struggles, they also showed some strengths on the court. Sophie Tober was the B team leader in serves, communication and overall team spirit.

Many members of the C team did really well overall on serving- most players having several serves score points for their team. Nevaeh Reger even had 3 aces against the Knights! Way to go. Kaylhea (Kah-LAY-ah) Jordan, Alex Herndon and Quinn Wray followed the ball and moved on the court.

We look forward to seeing everyone at our last match at home on Wednesday, April 5.

Did you know that U.S. paper money is not paper? It's cloth. In Ben Franklin's day, people repaired torn bills with a needle and thread! Do you know what denomination Ben Franklin's picture is on? He's on the $100 bill. One hundred dollars in donations to LLS helps fund the First Connection Program, a peer-to-peer program that matches newly diagnosed patients and their families with trained volunteers. With our donations, we are making that happen! Keep up the great work.

CORE+ teachers: We will be collecting your boxes today, so please make sure they are visible and accessible to avoid distractions. Stay tuned everyone to the announcements tomorrow for an update on who's in the lead...and perhaps...who is being sabotaged the most!

Our next MathCounts meeting is tomorrow, Wednesday, March 15 in Mrs. Donda's room. You will have a chance to look at the questions from our competition back in February and talk through the solutions as well. See you then!

As you heard last week, Powell accepted the challenge of helping find a cure for blood cancers through our Pennies for Patients campaign. We are joining over 25,000 schools across the nation in this effort to raise as much money as we can for LLS. There are lots of CORE Plus classes already creating strategies, making alliances, and thinking outside the box to ensure they win the competition by the end of next week so start bringing in those pennies for your CORE Plus today!

Despite their best efforts and team spirit, all three of the 7th-grade girls' volleyball teams lost their matches against Euclid yesterday.
On the A team, Scarlet Segura was the all-around MVP with great overhand serves, accurate passes, and movement all over the court. Josie Winger also had good serves, lots of communication on the court, and played with high energy.
B team shoutouts to Kalhea (Kah-lee-ah) Jordan, Harriet Jewell, and Harper Corona for great serving! Kalhea also made many accurate passes and showed great awareness of play on the court!
Kalyhea (Kah-LAY-ah) Jordan was the star server of the C team, serving a total of 6 overall points. Alex Herndon moved about the court well.
We look forward to our next home match on Monday, March 20! Come cheer us on in the Powell gym!

Last night girls 8th-grade volleyball played Goddard.
A and B teams played 3 tough games, unfortunately ending in losses. A team's Jaya White's had many smart assists and Annie Barbour used her assertiveness to help out on the court. B team's Kate Murphy showed up with her control of the ball and Piper Wheeler dove all over the court.
C team kept the game tight with Casey Jervis' serves and Al Rivera's passing. They played hard til the end, also, unfortunately, ending in a loss.
The way these girls played is something to be proud of & these were great matches to see! Great job girls!

Last night girls 8th grade took on the Newton Knights.
A team took the win in a 3 set match with Abby Reynolds' serves that made it hard to return and Baylie Buckmelter's smart plays at the net. Congrats to A-team on your first win of the season.
B team put us on the edge of our seats also taking it to a 3-set match, unfortunately ending in a loss. Greta Bell really showed up with her serves & Kimsie DeNunzio was showing some real hustle. The girls played tough and didn't give up!
C team played with only 1 sub available, but that didn't stop them! Their positivity never ceased, even after a loss at the game. Great job girls!
