We had a phenomenal ending to the 22-23 Fitness Finals on Friday with the Partner Mile groups hitting many of the best times in our finals history!
Dylan Escorcia and Maddox Mangers started off by burning up the track with a new school record of 4:14! The pressure by Jack Forbes and Liam Folk, just a second behind, made this a race to remember!
The girls came to compete, no doubt, with Julianne Dail and Lily Harrison pushing their limits and running an amazing time of 5:22!
Finishing off the Partner Mile for the day, was the greatest amount of co-ed groups we have ever had compete and they were thirsty for some serious times! 7th graders Sami Bell and Cam Carnes kept their cool and ran a smart race taking the win with a 5:09 time.
Again, thank you to all of our athletes who competed & pushed outside their comfort zones! It was amazing to watch you do your best and accomplish some astounding scores! We will miss seeing all of our 8th graders compete next year, but look forward to the continuation of our Fitness Finals with our 23-24 competitors!

A big shoutout to all of our Milers last Friday who showed up to run their best, most of which had accomplished their PR times and some who CRUSHED the school record!
Congratulations to 8th grader Cecelie Franklin pacing and running a beautiful 6:34 race with Sami Bell pushing hard behind her for 2nd at 6:36 & Julianne Dail at 6:37 for 3rd. Fantastic run girls!
The boys have been foaming at the mouth for this day to come as 3 of our runners crushed the 5:07 record! Top 3 runners all ran a sub 5 minute mile with just a 1 second difference between 1st and 2nd place and a photo finish between 2nd and 3rd. The boys pushed each other hard to the end. Huge congrats to Maddox Mangers for taking the win & school record with a 4:56.07 time. Dylan Escorcia & Liam Folk ran a time of 4:57 with Dylan just a hair ahead to finish 2nd.
We are so very proud of these runners and their dedication to push outside their comfort zones! Way to go Pumas...grrrrrr!

Stay tuned for Parter Mile information as we need to keep an eye on the weather.

Today is the Ice Cream Social from 4:15-5:15! Due to the rainy weather, it will be held in the gym. You should bring your backpack with you, as you will not be allowed to go back to your locker. Students and family members will hang out in the gym until we are ready to serve in the small gym. Since we will be enjoying the sundaes in the big gym, we will need to be extra careful of spilling. Therefore, we will not be able to have any games or balls out. We will have music and time to hang out with family and friends!

There wouldn't be staff appreciation week without students. We can't wait to see you there and show you how much you are appreciated too!

Tennis club is canceled today. Enjoy staying dry at the ice cream social this afternoon!

Puma runners were in full force last Friday for the 20 min Fitness Finals! Again, we broke a record for the number of participants with 76 runners burning up the track!

The gym was in constant Fitness Finals mode last Friday starting with our abs of steel Plank competitors! Mr. Broer decided to compete with the best of them with an astounding 3:01 hold, but he had nothing on our winners Aiden McCollum with a time of 7:14 and Kaitlyn Flynn, beating out Chloe Arnold by 1 second with a time of 5:25! That's some serious core strength and heated competition!

Finishing out our Friday events was 7th and 6th grade jump rope, and as always, these jumpers did not disappoint! Taking the win for the year in 7th grade 2 min jump rope was Rene Schell @346 jumps, and Lincoln Chandler @353 jumps, while the 6th grade 1 min jump was won by Grace Farley @158 jumps & Trace Taylor @174 jumps! Impressive to say the least!

Congratulations to all of the participants in Powell’s Battle of the Books Competition last Friday. After a close battle, the winning team of Olivia Simpson, Payton Steepleton, Emme Smith, and Addi Bow came out victorious.
Thank you to Mrs. Cherney, Mrs. Chavers, and the sixth-graders who came to watch the competition.
Special thanks to Mrs. Ambron and Mr. Broer for being our guest hosts and reading all the competition and lightning round questions.
Good luck to our top 10 Battle Qualifiers who are headed to Euclid next week for the District Competition: Olivia Cherney, Jackson Machado, Adam Thurmond, Ellie Milbrath, Grant Brandberg, Pranav Satish Kumar, Emme Smith, Addi Bow, Payton Steepleton, and Ashlyn Schott.

This week will be the last week of Dungeons and Dragons Club.

The gym was in constant Fitness Finals mode last Friday starting with our abs of steel Plank competitors! Mr Broer decided to compete with the best of them with an astounding 3:01 hold, but he had nothing on our winners Aiden McCollum with a time of 7:14 and Kaitlyn Flynn, beating out Chloe Arnold by 1 second with a time of 5:25!

This Friday is the Timed Run! If you qualified, you will get your pass today or tomorrow!
