Hello P.E. Pumas!
Just a reminder that the Pacer Fitness Final is this morning during CORE+. If you qualified/made the TOP 10 board, we hope to see you in the gym soon!
First, check-in with your CORE+ teacher for attendance. Next, sign up for tutorials, then make your way to the gym to run your best ever!!

Your 7th-grade girls volleyball team took on the Euclid Falcons yesterday at Euclid. The A team suffered some first-match jitters with a loss of 12-21. While they shook that off and rallied through the second game, Euclid came out ahead, 21-23. The girls were doing their best to get 3 touches on the ball and Abby R was the serving MVP with a total of 7 beautiful overhands! Leilani showed a lot of spirit and hustle on the court.

The B team learned a lot from watching in the stands and won their match 21-9, 21-16. Greta B showed great court awareness and in the first game served up 7 points in a row! Quinn M and Morgan H also delivered several wonderful serves against their opponents.

The C team came on court and was doing their best to serve well and get more than one touch on the ball. Kenzie L was our lead server and the entire team learned a lot about the game of volleyball in, for some, their first match ever! Congrats to the girls as they pulled off a win, 21-14, 21-19.

This is a reminder for Chess club: our next meeting will be today instead of tomorrow due to the school dance.

Here are the volleyball results from the Options game last night.

The 8th grade girls C teams took on Options last night.  The girls worked extremely hard at trying to get three touches when the volleyball was on their half of the court.  Tatum K and Bella A were hustling everywhere.  Audrey O and Jay S had fantastic sets throughout the match.  But when the girls needed a consistent serve they struggled as they lost in three exciting games.

The second group of girls took the floor with a ton of excitement and energy.  They were talkative and helped to make it better by cheering each other on.  Katelynn M was a serving dynamo as she scored over half of the team's total points in the first game.  Elle S also impressed with the growth in her serve.  The second game was led by the great serves of Anisten H and Ryley D.  Unfortunately the girls had such great serves that they didn't have much opportunity to work on their three touches as they won in two games.

Volleyball girls please remember that practice on Thursday has been cancelled because of the dance.  Please try your very best to practice over Spring Break.

A reminder to all NJHS students - your personal hours for 3rd quarter are due by Friday. Please bring the signed form to Ms. Jay or Mrs. Donda.

Your 8th-grade girls volleyball players showed tons of growth at all levels in their matches against the Vikings from Goddard. The A girls were led by some clutch hits from Alexa L and Annalise C. Great serves from Alene D and Piper G. Cate M stepped up and was a setting machine for everywhere on the floor. But the girls struggled to pass the tough serves from Goddard as they lost in two games.

The B-girls worked hard to try and get three hits but they were led by their serves. The strongest serves came off the hands of Abby B and Liv K. Clutch passes were made from Chloe F while Kacky R had a couple great overhand hits to carry the team to a victory in two games.

The C girls faced a feisty Goddard team with consistent underhand serves. The girls were led by some clutch passes and serves from Audrey T and Lily E. Lexi R had a great attack at the net. But the ladies could not handle the consistent serves as Goddard won in two games.

Please come out tonight to support the girls as they take on Options.

Congratulations to the 7th and 8th-grade orchestra! At yesterday's Colorado Chapter of the American String Teachers Association Contest, they received a "Superior Rating" - the highest rating given at the contest! Professors from some of the top music colleges in the country judged schools from all over Colorado and gave great scores to our students. Go Pumas!

Attention all 8th Grade Boys basketball team members. If you have not returned your jersey to Mr. Eilert, the deadline was this past Monday. To avoid being charged the $50 uniform fee, you must turn in your washed uniform by Friday of this week.

Your 8th grade girls volleyball players started the season off on the right track. There was a ton of learning that happened while the girls did the absolute best they could to get three touches on the volleyball.
The A girls encountered a team with three strong players who put a ton of pressure on your Pumas with some unbelievable serves. The girls were able to get some fantastic passes on the serves of Newton, especially Morgan A, Piper G and McKenzie L. The girls did have some strong serves of their own, but could not withstand the pressure from Newton as they lost 21-25 and 18-25.
The B girls came out of the gate energized and looked to get the win. The girls had strong passes and swings from Sky P. The game was a very tight one - that was until Sammie N stepped up to the service line and reeled off 10 or more points for the team. All four setters, Chloe F, Leeta L, Grace P and Isabelle M did a great job of communicating and being leaders on the floor. Thanks to all of these contributions the girls pulled out the 21-16, 14-21 and 15-5 victory.
The C girls came out and looked to impress. Clutch serving was once again seen thanks to Avery L and Ashley F. The girls worked real hard to keep the ball on their half of the court to earn those three touches. With serves and great hustle leading the way the girls powered their way to a win in two games, 21-19 and 21-18.
Come out on Monday to support the girls as Goddard comes to Powell.

Whoop, whoop! CONGRATULATIONS to 8th grader David Reck and 7th grader Ren Nelson for both scoring so well in the International Academic Competition Geography Bee that they surpassed the National Competition and advanced automatically to qualify for the INTERNATIONAL IAC competitions being held in July in Vermont this year! Using a buzz-in question format in their respective competitions, David and Ren both showed an incredible knowledge of the world around us, and used logic and contextual clues to answer incredibly difficult questions! These two represented Powell in an upstanding fashion and we are so proud of them. When you get a chance, congratulate both of them on such a great competition!
