8th grade students, Do you have great listening skills? Are you good at solving problems? Are you good at listening and helping others solve problems? Well then you should consider becoming a Student Ambassador! Student Ambassadors are 8th grade student who help other students figure out a solution to an issue or a conflict that has risen between two (or more) other students in a peaceful manner and looks to make sure that all voices in the conflict are heard. So, if this sounds like you, please pick up a purple application located on Mr. Chavers door. Applications are due this Friday, August, 30th. Please turn them in to either Mr.Chavers or Mrs. Durbin in the attendance office. Thanks for your attention and good luck to all of you that are applying!

Don't forget our 4th annual community kickball tournament is Friday, September 6th! Gather your team, grab a sign up packet from the attendance office, and get ready to have some fun! Only the first 18 teams to turn in their completed sign up packets will be entered into the tournament, but there will be plenty of fun for everyone including lawn games, Kona Ice, and, of course, Tacos! That's right, can you say, "Carnitas Tacos with salsa"???

We prefer active, candid shots! Please submit photos in .jpg format and as attachments to your email. Also, include background information about your photos answering the questions: who, what, when, and why. Don't miss this opportunity to be featured the 2020 The Prowl yearbook.

7th and 8th Grade G/T Students should have received an email about their ALPs. Mrs. Erickson, Powell's new G/T Facilitator, wants you to look for that email about joining the G/T Google Classroom and completing the ALP Questionnaire. It should only take about 10 minutes to join the classroom and take the questionnaire. Students who complete the questionnaire by Tuesday, September 3rd will be entered into a drawing for a gift card.

The Powell Jazz Band will be holding auditions for students who play drum set, piano, electric guitar and electric bass. Students may be in any grade, but must be currently taking private lessons on their instrument. Information about auditions and the audition music are available in the band room from Mrs Watkins. Auditions will take place on Tuesday, Sept 3rd either between 8:00 and 8:30 or between 4:00 and 4:30. See Mrs Watkins in the band room with questions.

Magic: The Gathering Club will have its first meeting of the year next Wednesday, September 4. Please meet in Mrs. Blake's classroom (1068) after school. Cards and experience are not necessary, just a willingness to meet new people and have fun! Make sure you have a way home when we end at 5:00. See Mrs. Blake with any questions.

Watch or play in the kickball tournament, play lawn games, or get your fresh tacos and shaved ice from the food trucks. Pizza will also be served for $1.00 per slice. Packets to sign up your team for the kickball tournament can be found with Ms. Durbin in the attendance office. There is a limited number of teams that can participate in the tournament. Therefore the first 18 teams to return their completed sign up packets will be entered to compete. However, there is something for everyone to enjoy at this event. Don’t miss it!!

Are you planning to play in the kickball tournament on Friday, September 6th, but haven’t turned in your kickball packet forms? You're in luck! We are still accepting kickball team forms. Drop them off in the attendance office with Mrs. Durbin by Wednesday, September 4th. We’ll see you on the field or in line for a Kona ice or steak taco!
