All first semester woods students in 7th and 8th grade, please stop by the wood shop TODAY pick up your completed projects. Today is the last day to take your projects home.

Students if you plan to attend an after school sporting event you must be in the gym by 3:45 or leave campus and return at 4:30. Students you are not allowed to wander the halls. 

Attention all 7th grade girls interested in playing Volleyball: There will be a mandatory meeting during lunch on Tuesday, February 4th. Please grab your lunch, or if you are buying lunch, head to the front of the line and then make your way to the gym. The meeting will start promptly at 11:15. See you soon! Coaches Bowlen & Altena

Attention SAGA students.  SAGA is back!   SAGA will be meeting on Mondays, starting next Monday, February 3rd from 3:30 - 4:45 pm.  Come see old friends or to meet new ones.  All are welcome.  See you on Monday in Room 1041.

Alright 7th graders TODAY is the day.  The early registration window for next year’s Washington DC closes TODAY.  Don’t miss out on this amazing opportunity and be sure to get yourself signed up.

A strong reminder that no food or drink is to be taken outside during recess. This included unopened snacks and drinks of any type. 

Our 8th grade boys basketball teams played against our rivals at Newton Middle School.  Our A and B teams struggled to find their rhythm and both came up on the losing side of the game.  Landon Syers was calm and composed throughout the game.  Jacob Carey worked hard defensively, never giving up.  For our B team, Kai Budler gave a strong effort on offense and defense and Blake Matney played smart and consistent basketball.  Our C team started out strong and never looked back.  This is the most positive, team-focused and encouraging group of boys.  They continue to get better, individually and as a team, each game.  Dylan Renner and Tommy Lindig are a dynamic duo in the backcourt and Corbin Weil lead the team in points, rebounds and steals.

Congratulations to the 7th grade boys basketball teams! The A team dominated Goddard and finished the season with a win! Ian Laderer led all scorers with 14 points. The B team had ANOTHER close one, and fell just short by 2 points. Ben Minerly led all scorers with 7 points. C team fell just short, but played with enthusiasm.  Cason Zwickl led Powell with 4 points. Congrats on a great season!

Alright 7th graders Friday is the day.  The early registration window for next year’s Washington DC closes TOMORROW.  If you aren’t one of the 50 students who have already registered then get yourself signed up for a trip you will remember for many years to come.

Starting today, the lunch bell will only ring 2 minutes before the normal passing period. This will allow you 6 minutes to get to class. All students need to be in class on time.

Our 8th grade boys basketball teams played some great basketball last night against Euclid Middle School.  Our A team had an outstanding performance in their win against the Falcons with contributions from all players.  Joe Sotelo and Ethan Van Gemert led all scorers.  King Jordan was tough on defense grabbing rebounds and causing turnovers while Jasiah Mora showed tremendous composure.  Our B team played a very tough game, but came up a little short.  Henry Huggins and Tareq Frasier were all over the rebounds and steals and Gray Ferrigno was persistent and aggressive all game long.  Our C team was in control the entire game and showed excellent teamwork.  Braedan Longoria had a huge game with 8 points, 8 rebounds and 5 steals.  Corbin Weil and Santiago Grado Caraveo were active and effective in their rebounding and defensive efforts.  Great games Pumas!

In case you missed it, your 8th grade boys basketball teams played in 3 exciting games last night against the Newton Knights.  Davin Scholl dominated the game with 10 points, 12 rebounds and 7 steals while Jacob Carey and Ethan Van Gemert each added 4 steals to their 3 point buckets.  The A team came away with a big victory against our rival school.  B team played hard all game, but came up short.  Leo Jurbala led the team with 9 points - including 2 big 3 pointers!  Blake Matney and Henry Huggins were big on the boards and Justin Arnold led the team in steals.  Our C team had a big comeback in the last 2 minutes, but it wasn’t enough to pull off the win.  Dylan Renner was on fire scoring 10 points and hustling for 4 steals.  Jackson Kennedy was all over the rebounds.  Great games by all our Pumas last night!

Congratulations to our 8th grade boys C team for their efforts in their games last night against Options.  We split the games again, but showed teamwork and sportsmanship the entire night.  Shout out to Braeden Longoria for his 14 points and Corbin Weil for double digit rebounds in both games.  Aiden Long, Jacob Tin and Dylan Renner teamed up to create quite the defensive trio with their hustle, focus and grit.

Congratulations to our 7th grade boys basketball teams! The A team showed a TON of improvement, but fell a little short to Euclid. Owen Wise led all scores with 10 points and played incredible defense. The B team lost by only one point, with Silas Folk’s last second half court shot just barely too late, even though he swished it. Silas had 8 steals and 12 points to lead all scores. The C team played hard all game and won! Myler Palmer had 5, Henry Amann had 5, and Jett Schull had 4 in their team victory. Go Pumas!

Last night our 8th grade boys C team played a double header against Options Middle School.  We split the games 1-1.  Tommy Lindig showed tremendous hustle and toughness on defense while Alex Toker displayed fantastic offensive decision making.  Webb Bailey kept his cool as he knocked down important free throws through the games.   

It’s a rematch today, Powell, so come support our 8th grade boys basketball team as they welcome Options, after school, one more time. And, Good luck to our 7th grade boys basketball teams as they travel to Euclid after school today.

This is just a reminder that there is no Chess Club today. Our next meeting will be next Wednesday, January 29.

Congratulations to our 7th grade boys’ basketball teams on some awesome basketball last night against Newton! After falling in a big hole early on, the A team made an impressive comeback, but ultimately fell short. Owen Wise led all scores with 14. Our B team went down to the wire and, after a floater in the last minute of game time by Silas Folk, won a thriller by one point. Silas also led all scores with 6 points. Our C team fought hard, but ultimately couldn’t reclaim the lead in the 4th quarter, falling 25 to 17. Juelz Powell led Powell with 6 points, Jett Schull had 5, and Cason Zwickl had 4 points. Go Pumas!

Do you like solving mysteries? How about being IN one? This year’s Spring Play is called How to get Away with a Murder Mystery. AUDITIONS ARE FULL. There are no more available time slots. If you are interested in auditioning, you must email Mrs. Enley to schedule a time during lunch or before school. No auditions will be done after Thursday, so make sure you email Mrs. Enley now to get an audition time since they are full after school. There is a Google classroom to join posted on the Call Board, that’s the door at the back of our stage. You must have an audition time slot for a chance to be an actor in this murder mystery. Auditions are next Wednesday and Thursday. If you would rather be involved OFF the stage, our tech interviews are a few weeks away, so hang in there!

Our 8th grade basketball team travelled to Goddard last night and challenged them to a few close games. A-team cut their deficit from last game in half. Landon Syers fought through an injury to lead them to a close loss. B-team came down to the final seconds, and Joe Sotelo showed great playmaking. Henry Huggins hustled on defense and rebounded in a loss that came down to the final shot. C-team won in a really close game. Braden Longoria made some really big shots in the second half and Santiago Grado Caraveo did a great job on defense to lock down their shooter at the end. Come support us in our next home game against Newton!

Homework Club Announcement! New to 2nd semester: Homework club will NO longer be offered on Monday’s after school. Homework club will ONLY be Wednesdays after school. Please only come to Homework Club if you have something productive to work on. The first Homework Club of 2nd semester will be TODAY!

This is a reminder for 6th graders who would like to play basketball at Powell this year. Meet your coaches after school in the gym ready to play!

TSA members, this is a friendly reminder of our TSA meeting on Thursday. All participants must attend this meeting. Please make sure portfolios are completed for your events.
