Good luck to our 8th-grade boys basketball teams today as they travel to take on the Euclid Falcons. And, attention all 6th graders interested in playing basketball, your co-ed season begins tomorrow. Please meet your coaches after school in the gym tomorrow if you’d like to play.

CONGRATULATIONS to our very own Adam Thurmond for qualifying for our District Level Spelling Bee. Join me in wishing him well on Wednesday at Newton as he represents Powell. Good luck, Adam!

Wednesday, February 1, 2023,  3:50-5pm - TSA Meeting, Room 1210 for Project Work time. Reminder - this is the FINAL date for early submission events.

Last night the 7th-grade boys' basketball teams took on Newton.
The A team started off with great energy, which was matched by the wonderful Puma fans who came to cheer on the teams. Some whole-team highlights include a very effective press defense, a high throw percentage, and unselfish passing. Individual standouts include Nash McMonigle's speed, defense, and rebounding, Merrick Franks' scoring and playmaking, Jacob Laderer's and Cam Fredricks' abilities to slice through the defense, and Bennett Smith's toughness.
The B team also played a strong game against the Knights. Some highlights include Kaiden Vaughn's steals and fast breaks, Weston Chemalind's point guard play, Sean McNatt's assists, and Brennen Dreiling's defense and perimeter shooting.
The C team showed some growth from their last game, too. Led by Henry Smith at point guard, and Tully Becker, Ethan Hunt, and Keegan Mead on defense, the Pumas played some hard-bitten basketball. The team was helped by scores from Jaxson Mathieson, Jake Archie, Henry Smith, Riley Stearns, and Tully Becker. With so many contributions from everyone on the team, the C team was able to come away with the win.
A final shout-out goes to Mr. Chavers, who unexpectedly had to lace up and ref all three games. Without his efforts, none of the games would have happened. Please join us in thanking Mr. Chavers when you see him today.
The team will play their last game of the season on Wednesday at Goddard. We hope to see you there.

Attention NJHS students - your next mandatory meeting is TOMORROW, Wednesday 2/1, at 9:15 am. See you then.

MathCounts members - your last meeting before our competition is TOMORROW, Wednesday 2/1 after school in Mrs. Donda's room. All students are welcome to join us. Wish our Powell team luck as we compete in the Denver Metro Chapter Competition this weekend. See you then.
