The Puma Prowl is a week away! What is the Puma Prowl you say? Well, it's a 1.25 mile fun run that starts on the upper grass field that winds around Powell and Puma Park with a finish at the far end of the upper field! Not only is it a great workout, at the end you will be rewarded with a raffle ticket for a chance to win a gift card, candy or Gatorade! The late/activity bus will be there to take you home by the time the raffle is complete. Come join us and let's make this the biggest Prowl ever! Family is welcome to run or cheer you on, but only Powell students can enter the raffle! See you next Monday, Oct 7th from 3:45-4:45!

For students who take the late bus home after sports or clubs, it will now pick up in the staff parking lot.

Magic: The Gathering Club will meet after school today in Mrs. Blake’s room (1068). All experience levels and legal decks are welcome. Join us for some competitive fun!

Hey pumas!!!  It has finally arrived, the annual staff drawing where you can do fun things with your teachers and staff.  Tickets are $1 each and will be sold at all lunches this Wednesday through Friday.  Check out the posters around the building for all the cool prizes.  If you have more questions, ask your favorite student council member.  All proceeds go to Arapahoe High School’s Make a Wish.

The 8th grade track district tournament was last night at Newton. Our Powell girls put in an impressive effort and ended up with a 3rd place finish. The boys managed to pull through on a very close victory to become district champions for the 6th consecutive year. Congratulations to our 8th grade boys track team!

Let’s get ready to run! Our 8th grade track team will travel to Centennial Stadium at Newton for the district championship today. If you haven’t seen them in action this season, now is your chance! Good luck, Pumas!

Attention all 7th and 8th grade girls basketball players and 6th through 8th grade wrestlers. Please turn in the paperwork you received for your season to the main office as soon as possible. Paperwork needs to be turned in before your first day of practice in order to participate in that practice.

The 7th Grade track team had their last meet of the season yesterday. The boys defeated Newton by a score of 87-30, including Cam Abbey setting the school record for High Jump! The girls fell just short in a hard fought match. Just a reminder, jersey turn in will be during 7th Grade Lunch in the Media Center on Monday, September 30th.

Today is the day you have all been waiting for! Teams will be kickin’ it old school tonight for a little competition, fun and exercise during our 8th Annual Kickball Tournament. After school, bring your backpack out, place it under the trees on the hill by the blacktop, and get your team gathered up to listen to instructions from Mr.Meier. If you’re not playing, we hope you still hang out to enjoy the good vibes and food from the food trucks. Good luck and have a great time! Remember, sportsmanship is key to everyone enjoying this annual tradition.

There is NO TSA today after school. Good luck to members participating in the Kickball Tournament! Our next meeting will be on October 3. All forms and fees will be due at this time. We will be finalizing team and individual events at the next meeting.

Congratulations to the 7th Grade Track team as they defeated Goddard in yesterday’s meet. The boys team won by a large margin with a score of 80-33! The girls team had a hard fought win with a score of 55-51. Awesome job guys! Today will be our last practice of the year.

This week is National Suicide Prevention Week.The week is about how to educate ourselves and others on warning signs for suicide and ways we can intervene. Keep your eye on the Counseling Google Classroom for resources throughout the week. The 8th grade home track meet against Goddard was a success! Both boy’s and girl’s teams came out victorious, with girls leading 51 to 64 and boys 31 to 86. Out of 13 events, Powell girls  secured first place in 9 events and for the boys,  11 events.  It was a fantastic meet with hard work and perseverance!  We hope to see you at the next home meet against Newton on Wednesday the 18th.

The 7th Grade Track Team had their first meet yesterday, hosting Euclid. The boys team came away with a huge win, defeating Euclid 77-39! Good job guys! The girls team had an extremely close meet and barely fell short, 57-65. The meet was extremely close until the end. Our next meet is on Monday, September 16th at Goddard.

Hooray for Fall weather! Makes me think of October & our Sources of Strength Campaign - Trusted Adults! Students get excited to either play kickball, cheer on, or hang out to play some backyard games of ladder golf, cornhole, or giant Jenga with your Trusted Adult(s)! There will be plenty of fun for everyone & food trucks serving up yummy variations of hot dogs and churros! It is only 9 days away!

Our 8th grade track team had their first meet of the year last night. They traveled to Euclid and had a very close meet. The boys won by a score of 61-56, dominating the field events to carry them to a victory. The girls team ended up tying by a score of 58-58. Very impressive performances in relays kept it very close. Come support our track team next week as we take on Goddard here at Powell on Wednesday.

Calling all basketball players - basketball club starts in just a few days!  This club is for 7th and 8th graders and takes place Friday mornings before school.  Wake up early and come hoop it up!  

-Every day, thousands of students stay home from school because they're afraid of being bullied. We can change that. No Place for Hate is dedicated to making sure everyone feels welcome and safe at our school. If you want to help create a positive atmosphere, come to our first meeting after school today in room 1044. Let’s work together to ensure our school is a place of respect and kindness.

Good Morning Kickin’ Pumas! Did any teams get together for a little sunshine, practice and fun this weekend?  If you are still wanting to sign up for the Kickball Tournament, you have time, but don’t delay! The longer you wait, the harder it is to form a team. Team Captains should pick up the packet from Mrs. Durbin in the main office, follow the directions and get their team rollin’! Congratulations to the two Powell students whose poems were recently selected to be published in “A Celebration of Poets” from the Creative Communication Summer 2024 Writing Contest!  Only a select number of entries submitted from across the nation are invited to be published in their poetry anthology.

Do you like to act crazy with your friends or family? Are you interested in acting or tech in the theater? Then we want you to join the Thespian Troupe! We will meet every Wednesday until Winter Break. Please join us next Wednesday, August 28th for our first meeting. All grades, and all students are welcome to attend. You can find out what things we do all year long and see if you're interested in joining our Troupe! Love to see you on the stage, after school, next Wednesday August 28th!


Students, do you need a quiet distraction free place to get your homework done?  Wouldn't it be great if you could get some help on that one assignment that has been stumping you?  Well look no further than Powell's very own Homework Club!  That right, Homework Club is back! 


Homework Club will meet Monday and Wednesday after school in the media center from 3:40 to 4:40.  Bring your questions, homework and new this year, Arranged make ups and retakes! 


Remember, no need to sign up for the whole year, drop ins welcome.  Looking forward to seeing you there!

Your track and field season begins after school today.  All 7th graders who’d like to participate in track at Powell this year, meet your coaches in the gym after school tomorrow. 6th graders, your volleyball season begins Wednesday, August 21. If you are interested in participating this year, please meet your coaches after school in the gym on Wednesday, dressed and ready to play volleyball!
