Calling all basketball players - basketball club starts in just a few days!  This club is for 7th and 8th graders and takes place Friday mornings before school.  Wake up early and come hoop it up!

-Every day, thousands of students stay home from school because they're afraid of being bullied. We can change that. No Place for Hate is dedicated to making sure everyone feels welcome and safe at our school. If you want to help create a positive atmosphere, come to our first meeting after school today in room 1044. Let’s work together to ensure our school is a place of respect and kindness.

Good Morning Kickin’ Pumas! Did any teams get together for a little sunshine, practice and fun this weekend?  If you are still wanting to sign up for the Kickball Tournament, you have time, but don’t delay! The longer you wait, the harder it is to form a team. Team Captains should pick up the packet from Mrs. Durbin in the main office, follow the directions and get their team rollin’! Packet due date is September 19th to Mrs. Durbin.

Congratulations to the two Powell students whose poems were recently selected to be published in “A Celebration of Poets” from the Creative Communication Summer 2024 Writing Contest!  Only a select number of entries submitted from across the nation are invited to be published in their poetry anthology.

Congratulations to the following Pumas:
Jade Bauer for her poem “Bullying”
T. Landgren for her poem “Summertime Therian”

Congratulations to these and all of our Puma writers who entered the contest!

If YOU are a writer who would like to consider entering your writing in contests or submitting it for possible publication, Creative Communication’s next Poetry Contest deadline is December 5.  Please see Mrs. Jordan for more information.

We are so proud of all of our Puma authors!

Thespian Troupe will meet again this Wednesday afterschool from 3:30-4:45pm. Reminder to all inducted members who wish to run for a BOARD position that your poster is due Wednesday. Check out the call board at the back of the stage or the Yearbook Room 1057 to pick up a flyer if you missed the first meeting. All Pumas are still welcome to join this week!

Yearbook baby ads for any and all 8th graders are due in one month!  Make sure you take advantage of this tradition only offered to 8th grade students. See Powell's website or Instagram for details!

"Our first 8th grade track meet is Wednesday at Newton Middle School starting at 4:30! 8th track members please meet your coaches in their room after school."
