STUDENTS: If you have been having problems with your Trackpad on your chromebook and did not go yesterday, please go see Mr. Benton in the Library ASAP.

The Follies are coming soon! For those of you that don’t know, the Follies is Powell’s annual talent show. If you would like to audition for the talent show please sign up for a time slot on the Call Board which is on the back of the stage door. We are looking for actors, dancers, singers, comedians, musicians, and other unique talents! Gather some friends and take a risk. Auditions are next Thursday, November 7 after school from 3:40 to 4:45. You must have a time slot to audition, so sign up TODAY for the talent show!

Last night our 8th grade girls basketball teams traveled to Newton for some tough competition.  Our A team made some huge improvements and really worked together as a team.  Each girl made some personal goals and fought hard to achieve them.  Our B team was unified in their defense as they combined for 20 rebounds and 11 steals.  Your coaches are incredibly proud of you all!  Remember, there will NOT be morning practice tomorrow!

Last night our 8th grade girls basketball teams were matched up against another tough opponent.  Despite the outcome, our girls displayed courage, strength and teamwork.  Each one of our girls grabbed at least one rebound, and nearly everyone managed to get a steal.  Way to keep your heads up Pumas, you girls are all amazing!  Best of luck to these ladies as they travel to Newton after school today!

Reminder there is no TSA this Thursday. If you have your forms they must be returned to Mrs. Gaston in room 1210

We hosted the Knights from Newton yesterday at our final wrestling dual meet before districts and it was another exciting evening of combat sport! Newton always has a solid, well coached team, so we are stoked to say we won 17 matches and lost 11. Our team really rebounded from our last meet, and coaches Altena and Sprague are proud of each and every one of our athletes.  Special shouts out to Kaiden Brown who wrestled up a weight class and beat a giant fellow, Manny Perez for getting two wins, and Mason Scholl who remains undefeated on the season. Great work Pumas!

Tonight is the night!  Please join Ms. Goerke for information on the Environmental Science in Action trip to the Azores in June 2026!  The meeting will begin promptly at 6pm in the cafeteria and be done at or before 7.  If you have not registered, no worries, there is plenty of space!

Our 6th grade Wrestling Team had their first of two meets last night at Euclid and it was a thrilling evening, We won several close bouts and lost some too, Coaches Altena and Sprague want to recognize Olivia Alexander, Ressen Esquibel, and Guile Rojo Macias for wins against a tough opponents and give props to all our athletes for their hard work and courage. Special recognition goes to Marcelo Garcia though, he wrestled four different opponents last night and beat them all. In those 4 matches he scored a total of 72 points while only giving up six. Wow!

Our 8th grade girls basketball teams came up short in their games against Euclid last night.  Sylvie Petersen was a leader on the court with 6 steals and 3 rebounds.  Grace Farley led the team in scoring with 6 points, including a big 3 point basket!  Andrey Pummel and Nell Stalilonis were super aggressive and showed endless energy as they played tough defense.  Gemma Strouse added 5 points and 5 steals for the Pumas.  Way to play hard the entire game ladies!   

Our wrestling team faced a strong Euclid squad  in our gym yesterday, and frankly, it was a tough meet. In 28 matches against the Falcons, we lost 19 and only won 9. Our Pumas ALL battled and refused to quit, but the Euclid team was more experienced and caught us off our game.  Coaches Altena and Sprague are proud of everyone of our athletes, but have to recognize that despite a tough night, the following Pumas deserve recognition: Davin Scholl wrestled a giant of a middle schooler last night, and pinned him in the second period. Taj Muhammed pinned one Falcon and outworked one of Euclid’s best athletes for two wins last night. Finally, Corbin Weil was dominant last night and pinned his Falcon opponent in the first round. We have a sixth grade meet at Euclid on Monday and another home meet on Tuesday against Newton,

October 30th, is the Freshman Showcase Night at 6:00 pm at Arapahoe HS

Are you a current 6th or 7th grader who wants to start seeing the world?!  You are being offered the chance to join Ms. Goerke on a trip to the ISLANDS OF THE AZORES in Summer 2026!  Bring a parent or guardian to the informational meeting on Tuesday, October 29 at 6pm in our cafeteria.  Ms. Goerke will share all the exciting details with you then.  If you did not get the RSVP code, please see Ms. Goerke in room 1067.  

Our 8th grade girls hosted the Goddard Vikings last night in our first games of the season.  The A team showed amazing teamwork and composure and was able to secure their first victory!  Kendall Helm was a leader for the Pumas with 8 points and 5 steals.  Sarah Martineau and Rebecca Morris crashed the boards with a combined 19 rebounds.  Congratulations A team!  Our B team fought hard the entire game and continued into overtime, but fell just 2 points short.  Gemma Strouse led all scorers with 10 points while Emme Smith and Jay Garvey each grabbed 8 rebounds.  We are so proud of both our teams!  

Student Council is sponsoring another hometown spirit day.  Please wear your Nuggets attire this Thursday, October 24th for the Nuggets first home game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Our 7th and 8th grade Wrestling team had the first meet of the season last night at Goddard and it was an exciting evening of combat sport. There were 43 wrestling matches and we won 26 of them and lost 17. There were so many impressive performances last night that we can’t list them all, but Coaches Altena and Sprague wanted to recognize Jack Bednorz, Reese Davis, Andrew Garduza, Myles Horne, Danna Bautista, and Gavin Troupe for especially impressive wins. Pumas, we have a great wrestling team and you can see us compete in person tomorrow for our first home meet against Euclid!

Some of you may be planning to dress up for Halloween, please remember that we do not wear masks, face makeup, or inflatable costumes, and we do not bring weapons of any kind on campus.  Today is White Cane Awareness Day! White Cane Awareness day is a special day to celebrate the white cane and those who use it. A white cane is a tool that people with visual impairments use to get around. It is a long stick that is mostly white and it is red at the end with a grip at the top. White Cane Awareness Day is celebrated on October 15th each year.

Yesterday was the perfect day to run the 27th Annual Puma Prowl! Students came with fun & positive attitudes to make this yet another great Prowl! Thanks so much to our amazing PTO, especially Katie Perez & Erin Taylor for all the behind the scenes work. A ton of thanks to the many parent & staff volunteers that helped to keep this Powell tradition going strong. We couldn’t do this run without you! Way to go and YAY TEAM PUMAS!!

Today is the final day to purchase tickets for a chance to win a fantastic prize in the Annual Teacher Drawing.  Are you hoping to plan and teach a class with Mrs. Jordan or help Mr. Folk teach a PE class for a day?  Be sure to enter today at lunch!  We want to raise a lot of money to help support Arapahoe High School’s Make a Wish Campaign.

Today is the day! We’ll see all of you after school for the 27th Annual Puma Prowl. Bring your fun attitude, your Puma spirit and a smile…the rest will take care of itself! Students, due to the Puma Prowell taking place this afternoon, there will be no homework club meeting today, Monday, October 6th.  If you are not taking part in the Puma Prowell, please make sure you have a way home after school today.

 You incredible PUMAS,  your generosity raised $1,777 for Arapahoe High Schools Make a Wish week.  You beat last year's record.  You will change the life of one young person that Araphoe will select in the spring.  Way to go Pumas.  For a list of winners of the staff drawing, please see the posters outside the main office and in the cafeteria.
