PRIDE Leaders: Our first activity with the sixth graders is coming up during CORE Plus on October 24. Lunch today will be your last chance to attend the training with Mrs. Blake. It will be a working lunch, so bring your lunch with you. If you cannot participate in the training, please let Mrs. Blake know ASAP. 

A reminder, tomorrow is late start and students will attend all 7 class periods. 

Attention members of No Place for Hate there will not be a meeting this week due to student-led conferences. We will see you next week on Wednesday!!

 Today is White Cane Awareness Day! White Cane Awareness day is a special day to celebrate the white cane and those who use it. A white cane is a tool that people with visual impairments use to get around. It is a long stick that is mostly white and it is red at the end with a grip at the top. White Cane Awareness Day is celebrated on October 15th each year.

Students, do you want to help Powell earn $2000? Please ask your family to sign up for the LPS STRIDE race. The middle school with the most participants will earn $2000.

Next Wednesday, the day before fall break students will attend all 7 periods, like the Monday, Tuesday and Friday schedule. Yes, it will still be a late start Wednesday.

Alright 8th graders heading to Washington DC.  Have you done your job and turned in your papers to Mr. Genson?  The mandatory meeting is TOMORROW night.  Be here promptly at 6:00 PM so we can get started right away.  See you then.

Attention NJHS Students.  Just a reminder that tomorrow, Wednesday, is our next mandatory meeting where we will elect our president and secretary for the year.  Please grab your lunch and arrive promptly so we can get started.  If you are planning to run for either position, please make sure your speech is uploaded tonight to Google Classroom. Yesterday was the perfect day to run the 27th Annual Puma Prowl! Students came with fun & positive attitudes to make this yet another great Prowl! Thanks so much to our amazing PTO, especially Katie Perez & Erin Taylor for all the behind the scenes work. A ton of thanks to the many parent & staff volunteers that helped to keep this Powell tradition going strong. We couldn’t do this run without you! Way to go and YAY TEAM PUMAS!!

Who’s ready to run like a Puma? You are! Be ready to go on Monday after school for the 27th annual Puma Prowl. We can’t wait to see you all. The race and raffle will be done in time for the activity bus, otherwise have your ride ready to pick you up by 5. Be there or be square! 


Today is the final day to purchase tickets for a chance to win a fantastic prize in the Annual Teacher Drawing.  Are you hoping to plan and teach a class with Mrs. Jordan or help Mr. Folk teach a PE class for a day?  Be sure to enter today at lunch!  We want to raise a lot of money to help support Arapahoe High School’s Make a Wish Campaign.

First, turn in those papers ASAP to Mr. Genson.  Secondly, please don’t forget that we have a MANDATORY meeting Wednesday at 6:00 PM here at Powell in the cafeteria. Finally, turn in your essay to lay the wreath at the tomb of the unknowns to Mr. Genson by the end of the day today.


Monday is the World Day of Bullying Prevention. To show that you stand against bullying, wear blue! On this day, you will also have an opportunity to sign the pledge that No Place for Hate created and show your commitment to our school and community in preventing bullying!

Today is the day! We’ll see all of you after school for the 27th Annual Puma Prowl. Bring your fun attitude, your Puma spirit and a smile…the rest will take care of itself! Meet on the upper field after school. Please bring out your backpack and leave it under the tree on the hill by the blacktop. Let’s GOOOOO PUMAS! The race and raffle will be done in time for the activity bus, otherwise have your ride ready to pick you up by 5!

Students, due to the Puma Prowell taking place this afternoon, there will be no homework club meeting today, Monday, October 6th.  If you are not taking part in the Puma Prowell, please make sure you have a way home after school today.

 You incredible PUMAS,  your generosity raised $1,777 for Arapahoe High Schools Make a Wish week.  You beat last year's record.  You will change the life of one young person that Araphoe will select in the spring.  Way to go Pumas.  For a list of winners of the staff drawing, please see the posters outside the main office and in the cafeteria.

Pumas, have you told your family about the Prowl yet? What are you waiting for?! Write it in your planner right now and make it a date to get a run and some fun this coming Monday after school! It’s free and there are many prizes to be won. Oh ya, did I mention that the Top 3 winners in each grade & gender win a t-shirt and gift card? #1 Girl and #1 Boy overall, also get their name engraved on the everlasting Puma Prowl plaque. Hello Thespians! If you are going to ThesCon, you must have your piece chosen by today! Come to our troupe meeting today with your piece! 

If you are NOT attending ThesCon this year, please do not attend our troupe meetings until ThesCon is over. Again, if you are NOT competing in ThesCon this year, we will see you again in December!
