Our 8th grade girls basketball teams came up short in their games against Euclid last night. Sylvie Petersen was a leader on the court with 6 steals and 3 rebounds. Grace Farley led the team in scoring with 6 points, including a big 3 point basket! Andrey Pummel and Nell Stalilonis were super aggressive and showed endless energy as they played tough defense. Gemma Strouse added 5 points and 5 steals for the Pumas. Way to play hard the entire game ladies!
Our wrestling team faced a strong Euclid squad in our gym yesterday, and frankly, it was a tough meet. In 28 matches against the Falcons, we lost 19 and only won 9. Our Pumas ALL battled and refused to quit, but the Euclid team was more experienced and caught us off our game. Coaches Altena and Sprague are proud of everyone of our athletes, but have to recognize that despite a tough night, the following Pumas deserve recognition: Davin Scholl wrestled a giant of a middle schooler last night, and pinned him in the second period. Taj Muhammed pinned one Falcon and outworked one of Euclid’s best athletes for two wins last night. Finally, Corbin Weil was dominant last night and pinned his Falcon opponent in the first round. We have a sixth grade meet at Euclid on Monday and another home meet on Tuesday against Newton,
Arapahoe High School will host its showcase on Oct 30th at 6:00 pm. Visit their website for more information.
