Your 8th grade volleyball girls once again represented Powell well yesterday afternoon. The A girls were led by some great serves from Maddie G and the human pogo stick was on full display. Taylor M was a jumping machine as she got her hands on at least 3 of Goddard's hits. The Vikings had too many clutch serves as Powell lost in 2 competitive games.
The B girls used some positive energy to work on pass, set and hit. The girls had numerous overhand hits throughout the 2 games. But it was Kaelyn S and Julianna B's hits that were the most impressive. None of that could have been possible without the great sets from Claire A and Elena P. The girls finally listened to their coaches as they hit their serves nice and deep which helped push the girls to the win in 2 games.
The C girls faced a tough squad from Goddard. Both teams served well and worked real hard to try and get as many touches on the ball as possible. It was some clutch serves from the Vikings that were too much for the girls to over come. The girls fell by just a few points in 2 closely contested games that could have gone either way.
Please come out after school as the girls host Options this afternoon.
