"Your 8th Grade Boy's Track Team started their season off well last night, and we set the stage for a solid season. Unfortunately, we lost the meet by just five points, but we looked great overall. Special shout outs to Caleb Mirer for winning long jump with a 14'7" distance, and Trenton Smith winning high jump with a 5'2" jump. One final note: Maddox Mangers won the mile yesterday and set a ew school record with a time of 5:23. This record had stood since 2005! Well done Maddox!"
8th grade girls' track dominated Newton Knights yesterday winning 77 to 38. Some highlights include Gwen Jurbala crushing it in the mile, and helping the medley relay clinch first with her 400m performance as well. Braelyn Winn showed off her wheels in the girls 4 by 200m as she came from behind yet quickly got the Pumas way out front for the win. Girls placed first in every running event except 2. Elise Wandry leaped over her competition (literally) in the long jump with a PR of 12'10"! Despite the high heat, our girl's were cool under pressure, Proving Powell is a powerhouse on the track.
