Our 8th grade girls basketball teams wrapped up the regular season last night on the road at Euclid Middle School. Our A team had a slow start, but was able to overcome some challenges, keep their composure and come away with another win! If you're keeping track - our A team went undefeated in regular season play and is the number one seed going into next week's district tournament. Cami Jolliff, Zoe Johns and Ellie Engelland showed their versatility as they stepped up to new roles with confidence and great success. Baylie Buckmelter showed composure and grit as she played the majority of the game in foul trouble. Esme Counter and Sami Engelland are two of the toughest defenders you will find in all of LPS. Great game ladies!
Our B team played a tough Combined A/B team and came up 2 points short of a victory. They showed teamwork, hustle and sportsmanship the entire game and deserve a huge congratulations for their performance. Our B team also finished the regular season as the number 1 seed and look to take home the championship next week!

moorhen /ˈmʊr.hen/
According to Scripps, the winning word that moved her past runner-up Raju was "moorhen" — female medium-sized water birds that live in aquatic environments. Don't miss out on the chance to participate in the fun. Join the spelling club on Dec. 6 @ 8:00 in room 3058 or for information about preparing or qualifying for the LPS spelling bee. "The district wrestling tournament was held at Newton Middle School yesterday, and a huge thanks to all the Powel Students that came to support us! We had lots of fans in the stand for an amazing exhibition of courage and dedication from YOUR Puma wrestling team. Unfortunately, our varsity squad came up just four points short and earned second place to a very talented Goddard team. Each and every one of our wrestlers deserves a great round of applause though, as they all battled like warriors to the last moment.
For individual results: Jacob Files, Dylan Comstock, and Sawyer Gostenik finished in 4th place.
Noah Endlich, Eli Seick, and Cooper Matney finished in 3rd place.
Dave Pierce, Alex Diggins, Charlie Turner, Fletcher Farley, Cam Carnes, and Weston Sprague all finished in second place.
Finally, Easton Calvin, Azzo Estes, Jack Forbes, Kaiden Vaughn, and Maddox Mangers are all 2022 Littleton Public Schools District Wrestling Champions.
That means we had 11 different wrestlers competing in the finals last night! It was one heck of a tournament and our team comported themselves with great sportsmanship and furious effort. We are proud of our whole team!"

7th graders listen up. Did you hear about this year's Washington DC trip? Here are some of the highlights that the 8th graders got to see and do? Visiting the pandas at the national zoo, seeing the amazing architecture of the library of congress, experiencing the African American Museum and Holocaust museum. Not to mention taking a dinner cruise up the Potomac that turns into an amazing dance party. The list could go on, the play at the Kennedy Center, the wreath laying at the tomb of the unknowns, and who can forget what Larry and Rick provided to the trip. Does this sound like something you want to experience, great because it should. Come to the Washington DC informational meeting on Tuesday night at 6:00 PM in the cafeteria. If you can't attend, no worries please stop by to see Mr. Genson in room 3066.

Pumas, let me take a moment to be real with you. We have a great 6th grade wrestling squad. Each and every athlete competed with pride and great effort and determination. We won six matches last night and only lost three. Winners by points were Grayson Ferrigno, Jackson Harvey, and Blake Matney. Winners by pin were Brooks Harvey, Corbin Weil, and Eli Seik. Coaches Ennis and Sprague are very proud of each and every wrestler on our team. Look out LPS, we have a solid nucleus of beasts for the next TWO seasons. Sixth and seventh graders, will you join us next year? Are you tough enough to step on a wrestling mat?
Congratulations to Powell’s 7th grade girls basketball team for their games against Goddard last night! The A team won 44 to 9! A full twelve of our victories were by pin! Again, there are too many great performances to list all, but special props go out to the following athletes: Dylan Comstock for winning three separate matches last night, and Jack Forbes for 2 pins. In addition, we still have seven undefeated wrestlers: Cam Carnes, Maddox Mangers, Kaiden Vaughn, Tully Becker, Easton Calvin, Fletcher Farley, and Jack Forbes. Folks, YOU have a great wrestling team and we have a strong chance of bringing home THE coveted District Championship. Our next meet is Tomorrow at Euclid after school. It is very close to us, so we would really love it if you could come and support YOUR Team tomorrow

YOUR Puma 7th and 8th Grade Wrestling Team opened our season with a ferocious victory over a talented team from Euclid. What a great crowd we had last night! Lots and lots of Pumas came to support the team and we fed off the energy! We won 18 total matches, 13 of which were by pin. Yet we only lost 11 hard fought bouts. There were way too many exciting moments to relate, but special recognition goes out to Dave Pierce for two wins by pin and Alex Diggins with two wins, one by pin. Also, the following wrestlers pinned their opponents in the first period: Declan Becker, Tully Becker, Lukas Crozier, Christian Flores, Cooper Matney, Brae Smith, and Charlie Turner. Finally, both Calvin Easton and Azzo Estes beat their opponents by technical fall, as in winning by scoring more than 15 points ahead of an opponent. People, YOU have a great team this year and we really appreciate your support last night!
Congratulations to our 7th grade girls basketball teams for their first games on Monday against Newton! The A Team played a great game and hustled all the way to the end. The B team also played a great game and was able to defeat Newton! Syd Carantit led the team with 6 points, while both Whitney Foulger and Sara Kasim had 4 points. Congrats, Pumas!
